TruSens Air Purifier Review in 2023

trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com/

One of the most fundamental requirements for human survival is access to clean air. Contrary to what most people think, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outdoor air.

Many air purifiers say they can solve this problem by getting rid of dust, allergens, smoke, odors, volatile organic compounds, germs, and viruses. However, not all of them live up to their claims. So, when I got the chance to try out the well-known TruSens Air Purifier, I jumped at it.

What's inside

TruSens Z-3000 review

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-3000 model reviews

The TruSens Z-3000 is a sleek cylindrical air purifier that uses a UV lamp and a companion SensorPod. UV can’t kill COVID, but if it’s attached to bigger airborne particles, the filter can catch it.

TruSens also offers the Z-1000 (for an area of 25m2) and the Z-2000 (for a spot of 35m2) in addition to the Z-3000 (for an area of 70m2). The Z-2000 was rated 8.4 out of 10 in our previous review. Even though TruSens has just announced the Z-2500 and Z-3500 Wi-Fi models (app and voice control), the regular model’s ease of use and lack of intrusion into your privacy make it unnecessary.

At the heart of the Z-2000 and Z-3000’s USP are the Standard IR SensorPod, which can be placed up to 15 meters away (with power) and measures down to PM2.5.

To get accurate PM 1.0 and VOC readings, Wi-Fi models can use the Enhanced Laser SensorPod (Volatile Organic Compounds – Formaldehyde and paint fumes).

TruSens Z-3000 unboxing

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-3000 model reviews

The TruSens Z-3000 has a diameter of 263, a height of 726 mm, and an obliquely inclined top that functions as a handle. It has a classiness that some other brands lack. It also works as a 360-degree air purifier, drawing in fresh air from every direction.

The slanted top is not only a handle, but it also sends airflow in two directions: up (30%) and forward (70%), making the airflow more evenly throughout the room.

The UV light may be turned on and off, and the Dupont HEPA and activated carbon (all-in-one) filter can trap particles as small as 3um in diameter with 99.97% efficiency from all directions. Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa that are bigger (0.7-1.2um) will be killed, but COVID will be safe (1.5-3um pneumonia). Be wary of relying on it, as the bacterium need larger particles. Therefore, UV is not a selling point but rather a feature.

Control

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-3000 model reviews

Indicators indicate the UV light’s status, the timer (2, 4, 8, 12 hours), fan speed (Whisper, 1, 2, 3, and Turbo), and the cleanliness or replacement of the filter are all located on a single bar.

SensorPod

A standalone SensorPod that can monitor air quality up to 14 meters from the air purifier is a great idea. If you want to use it, you’ll need 240V.

Energy consumption

When set to Auto, it fluctuates between 11 and 15 degrees West. Increases to 65W at fan speed 5. That’s mostly due to the UV Lamp, which consumes roughly 4W. Operating costs are minimal because power in Australia costs just 30-50 cents per kWh (1000 watts).

CADR (clean air delivery rate)

In most cases, TruSens will refer to the standard room size in m2. However, there is a great deal more to that.

It takes into account the CADR, the number of cubic feet in the space (2.44 m is the ceiling height we use), the number of times the air is exchanged per hour (ACH), the speed of the fans, and the degree to which the area is closed or open (amount of outside air coming in). Some brands also use the Coandă effect, including Dyson (air multiplier).

ACH is the recommended number under CADR guidelines.

  • Visible air pollution from smoke and fires – 8 ACH
  • Caused by allergens (pollen, etc.) – 5 ACH
  • The Norm: 2 Atmospheres per Second

There is data from TruSens indicating that the maximum CADR for the smoke at 2 ACH and fan speed 5 is 5.4 cubic meters per minute (cm3), for dust, it is 5.6, and for pollen, it is 5.9.

The company’s claim that it can clean a space up to 70 square meters (171 square feet) once every 31 minutes is accurate. However, more than meeting the typical CARD criterion will be needed if the air quality is better than average.

The rate at which the fan spins is also a variable. If a fan set to speed 5 is five times as quick as a fan set to speed 1, then the rate at which a room is cleaned increases proportionally. For what it’s worth, between 20 and 30 percent of the room-cleaning rate can be attained when using Auto mode.

Looking at CADR at multiple times the suggested coverage is necessary if you have a huge open space with lots of external air coming in.

We mean no disrespect to TruSens. Most manufacturers use the phrase “up to,” even though the realistic range is probably only about 20% of the stated maximum. All it implies is that clearing the air will take much longer.

Maintenance

A regular filter is included. LED lights alert you when it’s time to swap out the filter. We are a little worried that TruSens doesn’t tell us how long the LED indicators take. Most air cleaners may be used for roughly 4000 hours or about 10 hours daily for an entire year. If left on continuously, the filter has a six-month lifespan. Not only is this not unique to TruSens, but if it were to offer additional detail, it might receive higher marks.

Recurring cost

Pre-filter that may be cleaned and reused, eliminating the need for a monthly replacement

  • HEPA: 12-15 months (0.3um to 99.97%) $99
  • Carbon ($49 for three sheets, lasting 3–4 months; not as effective as activated carbon pellets)
  • $54 for a UV-C bulb that lasts between one and three years.

In contrast to disposable monthly lens cleaning solutions, SensorPod is reusable and can be used repeatedly.

But here’s the catch: four distinct filters call for the HEPA core.

  • Typical filter ($99) Includes Washable Pre-Filter, Carbon Sheet, and HEPA.
  • A pet filter (with a replaceable pre-filter and carbon pellets) costs $68.50.
  • Deep bed carbon pellets are used to reduce VOCs and odors cost $68.50
  • Carbon-Pellet Air Purifier for Allergies and the Flu $44.15

Using a TruSens z-3000

Securing the Well-Being of Children

It has a diameter of 263 and is 726 millimeters high. Simple to transport thanks to its top-mounted grip.

However, young children can grab the grip and pull themselves to their feet. It should not be utilized in the presence of young children due to its precarious stability. However, it is not really heavy, so it would not cause much harm if it fell on them.

Following industry convention, many manufacturers of air purifiers provide ‘up to’ claims that the average consumer will accept at face value but will never be able to verify. It is not illegal to use an underpowered air purifier; nevertheless, the cleaning process will be much slower, if it happens at all.

The TruSens Z-3000 is a high-quality, affordable air purifier that can cover an area of up to 70m2 when operating at fan speed 5. Still, the best space size is less than 60 square meters, and in this case, the auto mode is helpful.

The standard for air purifiers is.3um, which is no different. For air purification worthy of a hospital, a 1um filtering efficiency is required. You could either look for a TruSens filter that is tailored to your needs or upgrade to one that uses activated carbon pellets instead of carbon sheets.

Pros and cons of TruSen Z-3000

Pros:

  • The elegance of its cylinder form and quality construction.
  • The price is fair
  • Various Pet, VOC, and Allergy Filters

Cons:

  • Constant use increases the price of replacement filters.
  • The 70m2 area is at the maximum of what may be considered ACH compliant.

The TruSens Z-2000 is among the best devices available. TruSens Z-2000 is super quiet, effective at cleaning the air, and simple to operate. The air-quality measuring pod is one of the most innovative aspects of this product.

You can set up the pod so that the device turns on automatically based on readings of the air quality in the home. Although this model does not have the same government certifications as some of its competitors, it performed exceptionally well in our lab tests.

Those in severe need of allergy relief who can’t afford this at first can benefit greatly from this instrument.

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-2000 model reviews

Unlike other industrial-style air purifiers, this one’s white and silver color scheme and sleek, futuristic design give it a more ethereal feel. An easy-to-use touchscreen interface with lighted icons is located on top.

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-2000 model reviews

The touchscreen is responsive and may adjust the fan speed, activate the UV light, and/or program a timer. You can set the timer to go off after 2, 4, 8, or 12 hours, or let it run indefinitely by selecting the “auto” option.

You can easily transport it from one location to another thanks to the integrated carry handle. Thanks to the built-in carry handle, it’s easy to move from one place to another. It can be held in one hand because of its light weight of 12 pounds.

TruSens Z-2000 filtration technologies

The TruSens air purifier gets rid of allergens, bacteria, and viruses in the air by using a HEPA filter and a UV-C light. The TruSens air purifier gets rid of allergens, bacteria, and viruses in the air by using a HEPA filter and a UV-C light. It also removes certain VOCs from the air. The SensorPod was the most appealing component.

The SensorPod is a standalone detector that may be placed on the other side of the room from the purifier to measure the air quality there as well. This allows for a more comprehensive analysis of the room’s air quality. It has a Bluetooth connection to the purifier’s base and plugs into an electrical outlet. A discreet signal is sent to the air purifier when it detects a drop in air quality, and the purifier responds by adjusting its fan speed.

Air purifiers like this one claim to be able to sense changes in the air quality and make changes on their own. I find it easiest to let these kinds of devices mostly run on their own. In the morning, I activated the air purifier in my workplace and left it on all day. I was able to concentrate without being interrupted by any ambient noise. When I opened the window in the middle of the day, the SensorPod transmitted a signal to the air purifier, and the fan speed increased, indicating that the purifier was doing its job.

An air quality sensor beneath the control panel flashes a number and a colorful ring depending on the level of pollution in the room. I didn’t really detect a change in the air quality of my office, but that could be because the air purifier’s light went blue (the color that signifies clean air) when I turned it on and stayed that way the whole time.

When I finished using the air purifier in my workplace, I carried it upstairs to my bedroom, where I noticed the most improvement. It is designed with a carry handle, allowing you to carry it with a single hand. It can be held in one hand because of its light weight of 12 pounds.

The only drawback was needing to unplug the SensorPod as well; it would be awesome if it were wireless, but this was a minor annoyance because the SensorPod reconnected to the air purifier base as soon as it was plugged in again.

After letting the air purifier run relatively consistently on auto mode for several weeks, I saw a noticeable improvement in the air quality. When I failed to turn it on one night, I woke up with more congestion and a need to blow my nose more frequently.

Does ozone production occur in the TruSens Z-2000?

The TruSens Z-2000 Air Purifier doesn’t put any ozone into the air because it doesn’t have ionizing technology. Allergens, smells, bacteria, and other pathogens that get caught in the filter can be killed by the purifier’s UV-C light, which operates at 254 nanometers. You can turn the UV light on and off at will.

Is there an app that can be used to manage the TruSens Z-2000?

No, not this design. Regarding smart features, the TruSens Z-2000 air purifier falls short. If you want to use a mobile app to control your air purifier from afar, choose either the Z-2500 or the Z-3500, which is a bigger smart model.

Can the TruSens Z-2000 Air Purifier be used to clean a large room?

The Z-2000 is medium-sized, and it can double-pass an area of 375 square feet in an hour. The Z-1000 and Z-3000 are alternative TruSens models that can clean up to 250 and 750 square feet of space, respectively.

When should the filter be changed?

Change the carbon filter every three to four months and the HEPA filter every year to fifteen months, while the exact frequency of replacement will vary depending on the air quality in your home and how often you use the air purifier. Every one to three years, you should switch out the UV lamp. To help you know when the filters need to be changed, some lights turn on when they reach a certain age.

Comparison of Other Air Purifiers to the TruSens Z-2000

The SensorPod gives the TruSens Z-2000 Air Purifier a leg up on the competition, but if you’re searching for something different, alternative options are available.

There isn’t much to look at on the Honeywell True HEPA Whole Room Air Purifier, but it can efficiently clean up to 465 square feet of space as often as five times each hour. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but it filters out contaminants in two stages. The Z-2000 retails for $299, but this one may be obtained for as little as $250.

The Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool is an all-in-one system that can be yours if you have a bit of additional cash to spare (about $800). You can monitor air quality in your home over time and adjust settings with the help of the Dyson app. It does double duty as a humidifier and air conditioner, making it suitable for use in any season.

Pros and cons of TruSen Z-2000

Pros:

  • Separation via a Four-Stage Filtration
  • Clearly, the air quality has improved.
  • SensorPod analyzes the ambient air quality in a given space.
  • Simple, minimalistic, and contemporary

Cons:

  • Because it lacks such characteristics, it defeats the purpose of intelligence.
  • The lack of a control panel
  • Wiring is required for SensorPod operation.

TruSens Z-1000 Review

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-1000 model reviews

For spaces up to 250 square feet, there is the TruSens Z-1000, a compact air purifier. Ft. It has a DuPont HEPA-style filter and PureDirect technology.

TruSens is a global supplier of air purifiers. Awe-inspiring is the breadth of their protection. The user handbook, available in at least 25 different languages, will explain everything in plain English. I feel obligated to share my thoughts on the TruSens air purifier.

The Z-1000 competes with several of the best-selling air purifiers on the market today, including those from well-known manufacturers like Xiaomi, Levoit, and Phillips. I am eager to evaluate the TruSens compared to the brands mentioned above.

The UV-C light, the simple controls, and the 360-degree air inlet really set this model apart from the competition.

The TruSens Z-1000 air purifier is very stylish, but there are a few things I don’t like about it that keep me from making it my go-to device.

TruSens Z-1000 Design

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-1000 model reviews

The filter in the TruSens Z-1000 is located at the bottom, and the motor is located at the very top of the device, giving it a round form. The equipment is nearly equivalent to other air purifiers in the same price range, except for the brilliantly constructed carrying handle.

TruSens was made with you in mind. The idea is to use a high-quality air purifier that also happens to look great in your home and be a boon to your health and productivity. Put your faith in TruSens and breathe easy. You can purchase a Z-1000 in either white or dark grey color. The test unit I utilized is mostly white, with black grilles and a grey control panel.

I have no issues with the construction of this TruSens model at all. The plastic is also very good, and it still surprises me that such a good air purifier can be bought for so little money. Almost six feet in length, the power cable is about average and in line with the competition.

TruSens Z-1000 Control

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-1000 model reviews

The Leitz TruSens Z-1000 has a top-mounted control panel for its operation. The device’s buttons and indicators can be found on the control panel. Because this model doesn’t do a lot, the control panel has a small number of knobs, switches, and lights.

The “Power” button, which turns the gadget on and off, is located on the control panel. Press the “Fan speed” button to adjust the fan’s velocity. You can choose between speeds 1 and 2 and a “Turbo” setting. The UV-C light can be toggled on and off with the “UV” button. When it’s time to swap out the filter, a third button appears among the others. To clear the filter reset indicators, use the “Reset” button.

This model’s indicators include those for the currently selected mode (1, 2, or Turbo), the presence of ultraviolet light, and the need to swap out the HEPA and carbon filters. The device’s controls are responsive to touch, conveniently located, and thoughtfully laid out.

PureDirect’s patented technology splits the cleaned air into two streams. This makes sure that the filtered air is spread evenly throughout the room.

The TruSens Z-1000’s filters are at the very bottom, and their 360-degree design can take air from any direction. After being purified, the air is released through a pair of vents on the top of the device, thanks to PureDirect technology’s ability to divide airflow in half.

TruSens Z-1000 Features

Trusens air purifier review 2023 | https://spotlesschoice.com | Trusens Z-1000 model reviews

The TruSens Z-1000’s lack of further functions indicates its overall weakness. When compared to later TruSens models like the Z-2000 and Z-3000, I found that the Z-1000 lacked in many key respects.

The only other features worth mentioning are the air quality sensor, auto mode, and air quality indicator. Unfortunately, the Z-1000 lacks these improvements over the other two variants.

As an additional point of differentiation, the Z-1000 employs a HEPA-type filter rather than a True HEPA filter like the rest of the devices in the series. However, let’s check out the Z-1000’s characteristics.

Indicator for Clearing Filters

Air purifiers that remind you when it’s time to change the filter are a nice feature to have.

Given that the TruSens Z-1000’s HEPA and Carbon filters have different replacement schedules, this feature is handy for that device.

Thus, TruSens employs a pair of indicators, including a HEPA indication that alerts you when the filter needs replacing. The second is an expiration date for the carbon filter, indicated by a carbon indicator (usually changed more frequently). The Coway Mighty air purifier is a precedent for such a mechanism.

New filters should be introduced into the unit as soon as the reset indicators appear, and the “Reset” button should be pressed to reset the filter life counter.

UV-C rays

UV-C light is used as a filtering rate in the TruSens Z-1000. When the filter is introduced into the device, the UV-C light, which is attached to the device, is positioned such that it is in the exact center of the filter.

Staring into the device’s light bulb for an extended period can cause skin or eye damage. Power should be turned off before making any adjustments or repairs. ACCO Brands’ UVLZ1000-01 is a great bulb to use in its stead. The UV-C light source is encased in a protective filter, so there’s no need to worry about accidental exposure.

It’s worth noting that the Z-1000 has been certified as meeting CARB standards and produces no ozone.

Warranty

The TruSens Z-1000 is covered by Leitz’s 2-year warranty. From the date of purchase forward, the warranty will be in effect. The guarantee can be activated without requiring any additional registration or login.

Area covered and CADR

The 250 square foot maximum room size that TruSens Z-1000 can handle is quite reasonable. ft. TuSens will cycle around the room twice in 60 minutes to purify the air. Smoke has a CADR of 164 m3/h (56 CFM), dust 84 m3/h (143 CFM), and pollen 96 m3/h (164 CFM) according to the TruSens Z-1000.

When compared to other models at the same price point, this CADR falls somewhere in the middle. The Blueair 411, for instance, competes for head-on with the TruSens Z-1000, but it has a higher CADR (105 CFM for smoke, 120 CFM for dust, and 120 CFM for pollen).

The TruSens Z-1000 can be used in the bedroom if the somewhat louder noise at low speed is tolerable, but otherwise, it is best suited for the living room or study.

Although the Leitz TruSens Z-1000 lacks a full HEPA filter, its advanced filtering technology is effective enough to make any house a healthy environment. Watch this video summary to find out everything you need to know about the filtration process.

TruSens Z-1000 filtration technology

The TruSens Z-1000 has a three-stage filtration system that consists of a carbon pre-filter, a DuPont HEPA filter, and a UV-C light. The filter has a cylindrical shape with a central hole. The size is smaller than I had anticipated. It is near the bottom of the building and takes up about a quarter of the space.

Noise level

The TruSens Z-1000 has three different speeds for its fans. The lack of a sleep mode and the fact that there are only three speeds are drawbacks, but it would have been preferable if there had been at least one more fan speed included.

The Z-1000 is not as quiet as some competing devices with a sleep mode at the lowest speed because it lacks a sleep mode. The Z-1000 generates 43.8 dBA of noise even at idle.

Most people will not find the initial speed of this model’s sound to be too annoying.

On the other hand, Turbo Mode makes 64.4 dBA of noise, which makes it much harder to get used to the device.

I’m not trying to imply that the TruSens’s volume is a flaw by any means, but if you’re looking for an air purifier to use in your bedroom, I’d suggest looking into something like the Levoit Core 300 or the Hathaspace HSP001, both of which are significantly quieter than the Z-1000 while still providing adequate cleaning performance.

Does ozone generation occur in the TruSens Z-1000?

The UV-C light in TruSens air purifiers is very good at getting rid of harmful particles in the air. This function gets rid of airborne pathogens without adding to unhealthy levels of ozone or making health problems worse.

If you have a TruSens Z-1000, how long is the warranty?

The manufacturer, TruSens, stands behind this model with a 2-year guarantee.
